IMHOA trial: The efficacy and safety of Intramuscular Methylprednisolone in patients with Hand Osteoarthritis.
With this study we would like to determine the efficacy and safety of methylprednisolone in patients suffering from Hand Osteoarthritis with the use of a clinical study.
In this study we investigate the efficacy and safety of methylprednisolone in 218 patients with hand Osteoarthritis. In phase 1 of this study we will determine effect of the medication with the use of hand pain on a 100mm VAS scale, at week 4 after injection of methylprednisolone or placebo. Phase 2 concerns an open label phase, in which all participants may receive an intramuscular injection with methylprednisolone, to look at the adverse effects of multiple injections.
The project will last from 2025 till 2029. Patients will be followed-up until 48 weeks.
