HemON neurostimulation study for the restoration of blood pressure and trunk stability

In the HemON-NL clinical study, we evaluate the safety and effectiveness of ONWARD Medical’s implantable ARC-IM® system. This system is designed to restore blood pressure and trunk stability through electrical stimulation of the spinal cord.

Before participating in the study, each candidate undergoes a screening process to confirm the presence of a blood pressure drop due to a change in body position, assessed using a tilt test. After this screening, baseline measurements are conducted.

Next, participants undergo surgery in which an electrode is implanted on the spinal cord and a pulse generator is placed under the skin of the abdomen. This is followed by an intensive one-month adjustment period, during which the system is fine-tuned.

After this period, follow-up measurements are conducted. The study then enters the follow-up phase, during which participants undergo two additional measurement periods over 13 months.
