Pain, predict, genetics
With this study, we aim to investigate whether it is possible to predict if someone will experience a lot or little pain after surgery and how they will respond to painkillers based on personal characteristics and DNA.
Data collection consists of digital questionnaires (before surgery and on days 1, 2, and 3, 1 week, 6 weeks, and 3, 6, and 12 months after surgery), a blood sample drawn shortly before or after surgery, clinical information from the patient’s medical records, and medication data obtained from the local pharmacy.
The study commenced in January 2024, and it is expected to continue through 2026.
