Surgical correction of pes equinovarus deformity
This study investigates the effect of surgical correction of pes equinovarus deformity on personalized goal attainment and gait in people with unilateral upper motor neuron syndromes (UMNS).
Foot deformities are common in people with UMNS, such as stroke and traumatic brain injury. Surgical interventions are recommended to restore the normal foot position. However, despite excellent clinical experiences, the level of scientific evidence for these interventions is still limited. Therefore, people that will undergo surgical correction of pes equinovarus deformity will be included in this study. Before and after surgery, personal goal attainment will be assessed. In addition, gait capacity and performance will be evaluated. This project has started in 2021 and will end in 2024.
