Topspecialistische Zorg en Onderzoek
The Gait Expertise Center at the Sint Maartenskliniek is specialized in treatment of people with complex, neurological gait impairments, due to a stroke, spinal cord injury or neuromuscular disease. Clinicians and scientists at the Sint Maartenskliniek and the Radboud University Medical Center collaborate to unravel the underlying mechanisms of these gait impairments, and to decide on the best treatment option. Treatment options include training modalities, specific walking aids, surgical intervention, or a combination of these.
The Topspecialistische Zorg & Onderzoek (TZO) grant will be used to conduct multiple studies, aiming to further improve diagnostics and treatment of complex, neurological gait impairments. In addition, we will evaluate if our diagnostics and treatment programs improve a patient's ability to participate in society, and can reduce economic healthcare burden.
