Research & Pain Control

Many patients with chronic pain in the neck, shoulders, (lower) back and extremities which cannot be treated with orthopedic methods are referred to the pain management center at the Sint Maartenskliniek. The treatments are aimed at pain reduction and restoration of quality of life. Methods of pain control include nerve blockades, medicine advice and neuromodulation. We study the effectiveness of opiates and alternative methods, such as virtual reality for postoperative pain control.
